Reception and temporary practice of healthcare professions continue
Ukrainian refugees, temporary protection permits renewable until March 4, 2026
“ The possibility of renewing, until March 4, 2026, residence permits issued to Ukrainian citizens, beneficiaries of temporary protection already extended, ex lege, until December 31, 2024, is provided. For these categories of people, the possibility of converting their residence permits into residence permits for work purposes is provided.” This was stated in a government note following the decree law approved at the December 9, 2024 session.
‘It is specified,’ the note adds, ’the punctual continuation of certain support measures and assistance activities in place in favour of persons holding a residence permit for temporary protection issued pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 85 of 7 April 2003 and the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of 28 March 2022 as a result of the war events that began in February 2022 in Ukraine. With one or more civil protection ordinances to be adopted by January 31, 2025 and by way of exception to the provisions in force, the gradual consolidation into ordinary forms of the extraordinary and temporary assistance and reception measures currently in place shall be regulated, to be brought under the responsibility of the administrations ordinarily competent’.
Finally, ‘the deadline is extended to December 31, 2025 for Ukrainian citizens, residing in Ukraine before February 24, 2022, to temporarily exercise healthcare professional qualifications and the qualification of socio-medical worker on the basis of a professional qualification obtained abroad regulated by specific EU regulations.”
