02/09/2024

September 5, 2024 the institutional celebration, the day of the agreement signing De Gasperi - Gruber

September 5, 2024 marks Autonomy Day, a date that commemorates the signing of the historic agreement in 1946 between Alcide De Gasperi and Karl Gruber. An act at the basis of the special autonomy of Trentino, and neighboring South Tyrol, and which well represents the meaning of being an autonomous community, a frontier land but also a territory of dialogue and coexistence, of protection of minority rights. An official ceremony is scheduled again this year, opening at 5 p.m. in the Depero Hall on the ground floor of the provincial palace, with musical interlude by students of the “F.A. Bonporti” Conservatory of Trento and Riva del Garda. Speeches by Council President Claudio Soini, Local Autonomies Council President Paride Gianmoena, and Province President Maurizio Fugatti are scheduled, as well as a lectio magistralis by Professor of Law at the University of Innsbruck Esther Happacher dedicated to “Autonomy in the prism of cross-border relations.” At the end of the ceremony there will be the awarding of the Eagle of Wenceslaus honor by the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento to Giorgio Postal.
Among the September 5 initiatives will be the exhibition “Alcide De Gasperi. Album of the House,” promoted by the Presidency of the Provincial Council in collaboration with Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino and Fondazione Trentina Alcide De Gasperi, as well as the presentation of ‘PatStories competencies,’ the new format of the permanent exhibition ‘The Province is being told.’
