Arrivals by sea, 2020 data in Italy


There are 34 thousand migrants arrived on the coasts of the country

From January 1 to December 31, 2020, 34,154 migrants arrived on Italian coasts. The data comes from the statistical dashboard developed by the Ministry of Interior and constantly updated. Analyzing the report of the last day of the year just ended, it is possible not only to have the final figure for 2020 but also to compare it with the two previous years.
We note, in this regard, a significant increase in arrivals by sea compared to 2018, when migrants arrived on Italian shores were 11,471. More contained the difference compared to 2018, which saw 23,370 people arrive by sea.
The dashboard of the Ministry of the Interior also provides data on migrants in reception on the national territory as of 31/12/2020, which are 79,938, including Siproimi facilities (Siproimi data are updated to the last day of the previous month).
Looking at the nationalities declared at the time of landing on Italian coasts, the 2020 ranking sees Tunisia prevailing, followed by Bangladesh, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Pakistan, Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, Afghanistan and Iran.
Unaccompanied foreign minors arriving by sea in 2020, on the other hand, numbered 4,631, compared to 1,680 in 2019 and 3,536 in 2018.
