Almost the half are 17 years old; top countries of origin confirmed: Ukraine, Egypt, Tunisia, Albania and Pakistan

To be more precise, there are 19,640 unaccompanied foreign minors received in Italy as of March 31, 2023. The data were published by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
Looking, in particular, at the gender distribution, 85.4 percent are male and 14.6 percent female. The report at the end of March also confirms the trend of previous months: almost half of the MSNAs received in Italy (44.9%, 8,813 minors) are 17 years old, and the numerical consistency decreases almost proportionally as age decreases, down to 2.6% of the up to 6 years old group. Looking at citizenship, first countries of origin are still Ukraine, Egypt, Tunisia, Albania and Pakistan.
Also confirmed are the regions that receive the highest and lowest number of unaccompanied foreign minors: Sicily is the region that receives the largest number: 4,044, or 20.6 percent of the total. Valle d'Aosta, on the other hand, is at the bottom of the list with 8 MSNAs and the percentage value does not move from 0.0 percent. Trentino receives 94 unaccompanied foreign minors, accounting for 0.5 percent of the total.
Arrivals by sea are confirmed, also in the month of March 2023, as the main mode of entry of MSNAs, with 69.5 percent of cases; in 30.5 percent of cases, on the other hand, they were found in the territory.
