Entry into Italy for chinese travelers

Rules in force until January 31, 2023

From December 28, 2022 and until January 31, 2023, for the identification and containment of the spread of possible COVID-19 virus variants, these rules will be applicable for all persons entering from China:

1. mandatory presentation to the carrier upon boarding of certification that they have undergone, within 72 hours prior to entry into the national territory, a molecular test or, within 48 hours prior to entry into the national territory, an antigenic test performed by swab with a negative result
2. mandatory to undergo an antigenic test, to be carried out by swab, upon arrival at the airport, or, if this is not possible, within 48 hours of entry into the national territory at the local health authority of reference;
3. in the case of a positive result of the antigenic test, obligation to immediately undergo a molecular test for the purpose of subsequent sequencing and fiduciary isolation in compliance with current regulations;
4. obligation to undergo a further antigenic or molecular test with a negative result to end the isolation period.

Provided that no symptoms of COVID-19 arise, these rules do not apply to minors under the age of six, crew members and traveling personnel of means of transportation of persons and goods, officials and agents, however named, of the European Union or international organizations, diplomatic agents, administrative and technical personnel of diplomatic missions, consular officials and employees, military personnel, including those returning from international missions, and Police Forces, personnel of the Information System for the Security of the Republic and Fire Brigades in the exercise of their duties.
