Supporting the right to education and strengthening integration pathways through higher education. With this objective, the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) has published a call for applications for the awarding of 300 scholarships intended for students with international protection (refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection) or with temporary protection, enrolled for the 2025/2026 academic year at institutions of higher education in the arts, music, and dance (AFAM) and the Higher Schools for Language Mediators (SSML).
The initiative is part of the MUR-FAMI 1117 project (“Capacity building of Italian higher education for the reception and integration of migrants in third-level education” (FAMI) 2021–2027 of the European Union, with the aim of strengthening the capacity of the Italian higher education system to welcome and include students from third countries.
The scholarships are worth approximately 7,000 euros each, with the amount increased by up to 15% for students with an ISEE of 13,974.30 euros or less. The total funding for the initiative amounts to approximately 2.25 million euros.
The call for proposals is addressed to AFAM institutions and SSMLs, which will manage the distribution of the scholarships, including in collaboration with organizations promoting the right to education.  
Applications may be submitted by May 15, 2026. After that, individual institutions will publish calls for applications addressed to students.
