11/03/2026

8th edition of the “University Corridors for Refugees” project, coordinated by UNHCR

New calls for applications are now open for scholarships offered by 41 Italian universities (including the University of Trento) as part of the eighth edition of the UNICORE (University Corridors for Refugees) project, coordinated by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Seventy-eight students will have the opportunity to continue their academic studies in Italy by enrolling in a two-year master’s degree program. Selection will be based on merit and motivation. Their arrival in Italy is scheduled for September 2026.
The application deadline is on April 17. For more information on the programs and the selection process, please visit the dedicated webpage at www.universitycorridors.unhcr.it . The eighth edition of the program will be implemented in the following countries: Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The UNICORE project, active since 2019, has so far enabled over 300 refugee students to access university education in Italy safely and legally, offering a concrete alternative to the dangerous journeys organized by traffickers.
