Call for expressions of interest by September 12, 2024
The European Commission (EC) and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) have issued an open invitation to interested civil society organizations to participate in the 9th European Migration Forum (EMF ). The forum, entitled “Strengthening the Role of Civil Society in the Implementation of the Compact on Migration and Asylum,” will be held on November 28-29, 2024 in Brussels.
Applications are due by Sept. 12 to participate in the platform for dialogue with European institutions on the new Pact on Migration and Asylum.
The European Migration Forum is a platform for dialogue between civil society and European institutions on issues related to migration, asylum and integration of migrants. The overall objective of the forum is to improve coordination and cooperation among key actors involved in European multilevel governance of migration.
Each EMF agenda is unique and Forum topics vary each year. The specific objective of this year's forum is to bring together civil society organizations to discuss and engage with member states and EU policymakers on the challenges and opportunities related to the implementation of the Compact on Migration and Asylum.
The range of participants is wide, from civil society to relevant national authorities from EU countries, as well as EU institutions. In addition to EU institutions, international organizations such as the Red Cross, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR) have previously participated in the Forum.
The call aims to select civil society organizations working in at least one of the four areas of the agreement listed below: ensuring adequate reception conditions, the changes introduced by the Qualification Regulation, the new Permanent Solidarity Mechanism as well as the Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion 2021-2027.
Organizations will be selected based on the relevance of their activities and expertise. In addition, the selection process will ensure a balanced geographic representation of participants as well as diversity of areas of expertise, activities, and types of organizations.
