IMMIGRAZIONE, LA FOTOGRAFIA DELL'ISTAT Sono oltre 3 milioni e 430mila i cittadini stranieri residenti in Italia al 1° gennaio 2008. Il dato arriva dall'Istituto nazionale di statistica. Rispetto al 1° gennaio 2007, gli stranieri sono aumentati di circa 490mila unità, con un aumento de 16,8%. Secondo l’Istat si tratta dell’incremento più elevato mai registrato nella storia dell’immigrazione in Italia, da attribuire, secondo l’Istituto, al forte aumento degli immigrati di cittadinanza romena. L’incidenza della popolazione straniera sul totale dei residenti a livello nazionale è pari al 5,8%. IMMIGRATION, THE PICTURE PAINTED BY ISTAT There were more than 3 million 430 thousand foreign citizens resident in Italy on 1 January 2008. The data comes from the National Institute of Statistics. As compared to 1 January 2007, the number of foreigners has increased by around 490 thousand, with an increase of 16.8%. According to ISTAT, this is the largest increase ever recorded in the history of immigration to Italy and can be attributed to a large increase in the number of immigrants from Romania. Foreign residents represent around 5.8% of the total population at national level. 10/10/2008

FRONTE COMUNE CONTRO LA TRATTA No alla tratta degli esseri umani e accoglienza delle vittime di questo mercato che in Trentino colpisce soprattutto le donne, costrette alla prostituzione. Va in questa direzione il protocollo firmato in provincia di Trento che istituisce il “sistema trentino contro la tratta degli esseri umani”. Il protocollo, sottoscritto dall'assessorato provinciale alle politiche sociali e da altri soggetti istituzionali, del volontariato e del privato sociale, definisce la “Procedura per l’accoglienza delle vittime di tratta”. Secondo le Nazioni Unite, il fenomeno della tratta riguarda circa 2,7 milioni di persone, in maggioranza donne e bambini. A COMMON FRONT AGAINST TRAFFICKING Rejection of human trafficking and assistance for the victims of this market, which in Trentino affects mainly women, obliged to work as prostitutes. This is the position taken in the protocol signed in the province of Trento, establishing a “Trentino system against the trafficking of human beings”. The protocol, signed by the provincial department for social policy and other institutions, together with volunteer and private welfare organisations, establishes a “Procedure for taking in victims of trafficking”. According to the United Nations, the slave trade involves around 2.7 million people around the world, mostly women and children. 13/10/2008

IMMIGRAZIONE, “ULTIMO DEI PROBLEMI” L’immigrazione in provincia di Trento è tra gli ultimi problemi sentiti dai cittadini. Lo rileva un sondaggio effettuato recentemente dalla Sdv di Padova e pubblicato sul quotidiano il “Trentino”. Dal sondaggio risulta che la principale preoccupazione dei trentini è il caro prezzi. Seguono i tempi di attesa nella sanità, il lavoro, la difesa dell’Autonomia speciale, la sicurezza, l’ambiente, la casa e, per ultima, la questione immigrazione. Secondo il sociologo dell’Università di Trento Carlo Buzzi, “i trentini sono abbastanza consapevoli che gli immigrati rappresentano una risorsa”. IMMIGRATION, “THE LAST PROBLEM ON THE LIST” Immigration in the province of Trento is one of the least important problems for citizens. This is the result of a survey recently carried out by SDV in Padova and published in the newspaper “Trentino”. The survey shows that the main worry for people in Trentino is the cost of living. This is followed by waiting lists for the health service, employment, defence of Trentino’s special autonomy, security, the environment, the home and lastly the question of immigration. According to Carlo Buzzi, a sociologist at the University of Trento “the Trentino people are relatively aware that immigrants represent a resource”. 09/10/2008

CINFORMI, RASSEGNA STAMPA ONLINE Cresce Cinformi TV. La redazione del Centro informativo per l'immigrazione della Provincia autonoma di Trento è online anche con una Rassegna Stampa dedicata al fenomeno migratorio. In una decina di minuti uno sguardo ad alcune fra le testate che si occupano di immigrazione a livello nazionale e nel contesto trentino. La rassegna stampa è interamente realizzata negli uffici del Centro informativo per l'immigrazione a Trento. Chi volesse segnalare una testata giornalistica per la Rassegna Stampa può farlo scrivendo all'indirizzo cinformi@provincia.tn.it. CINFORMI, PRESS REVIEW ONLINE Cinformi TV is expanding. The editorial team of the information centre for immigration of the Autonomous Province of Trento will also be providing an online press review dedicated to immigration. During the slot, lasting around ten minutes, they will take a look at the papers dealing with immigration at national level and within Trentino. The press review will be realised in its entirety at the offices of the information centre for immigration in Trento.
